33 weeks

Another Dr's appointment down today. Mac's heart rate was good; my blood pressure and weight gain were good.

Lately, I have been really struggling through the work day due to pain in my left hip and knee. Dr. Maddox agreed that my joint pain is probably due to my hormones that are relaxing my ligaments (getting ready for delivering a baby) and also maybe Mac's weight being on that left side. I have tried a maternity belt, sleeping with pillows between my legs, and putting a heating pad on my left hip and knee, but nothing really works. I cleared it with the Dr. to try Bengay so that is my next fix. If it works, my new best friend's name is Ben Gay.

My next appointment is in 3 weeks and after that I will be going weekly! So crazy!

Camp Mac Flashback

A happy couple on the last day of Camp Mac Summer 03. We had no idea where our relationship would go from here...
"Lower Lake" one early morning where I taught many campers how to ski.
My cabin, Oak Ridge. I was in charge of about 12 girls ranging from 2nd to 7th grade.
This weekend Patrick and I house sat for his parents at their house in Munford, AL (home of Camp Mac). Their house is less than a mile down Cheaha Rd from camp. Patrick's parents both worked at camp for several years; they even lived on camp grounds as newly weds. As most of you know Patrick and I met there during the Summer of 03. Patrick was a camp veteran having worked there for several years. I decided one summer that I wanted to be a camp counselor so after talking to a friend from Dothan that had worked there, I decided to pursue a job there. I was the senior counselor for the girls in Oak Ridge cabin, a ski instructor/boat driver, a power boating instructor, etc. Patrick was in charge of team sports and was a life guard for the many water activities. Some of the activities offered to kids at Camp Mac include: water skiing, power boating, horseback riding, wilderness skills, team sports, rifelry, archery, tennis, arts & crafts, and many other fun activities. This is Camp Mac's 60th Summer!

Friday night we visited some of the Camp Mac staff and ate burgers by the pool. They had just checked out the first group of campers and were preparing for the arrival of the next group. After burgers, we watched some of Ferris Bueller's Day Off in the "Little Theater". We reminisced about the first time Patrick held my hand :).

Saturday we spent the day at Lake Wedowee with Coach Snider and his family. Patrick and Coach Snider coached baseball together at Cleburne County High School from 2003-2005 (his first teaching job). Later that night we drove back to camp to see some of the counselors that just arrived. They had just gotten done with their big staff meeting. Everyone was very excited to see Patrick and his pregnant wife. It was fun to see some of my former campers that were now counselors there.

Sunday morning Patrick played basketball with some of the guys from camp and then we headed back to Birmingham to eat Father's Day lunch with my parents and sister.

Auburn for the day

Jenna and Matt were in Auburn for the weekend for a wedding so I couldn't pass up seeing them. The Robinsons are residents of Waco, TX so I don't get to see them very much. I grew up with Jenna in Dothan and went to Auburn with her. She met Matt in Auburn and have been married for a little over 2 years.

We met and parked my car at Matt's brothers' house (Farmhouse). We ate at one of our favorite places for lunch, Amsterdams. Then we drove around campus admiring all the new things built or being built (new student union, etc). Lastly, Jenna and I sipped on milk shakes from Toomers on a bench on College St. and talked about baby stuff. Then we headed back to Farmhouse. We stepped in for a minute to use the restroom thanks to Matt's connections with the brothers. Jenna and I admired some of the old composite pictures of guys we knew and reminisced about band parties attended there.  I was only there for a few hours, but the time spent with good friends was well worth the drive.

7 month update

The belly doesn't look a whole lot bigger than last month in this picture, but believe me it is! I get told almost every day by someone that my belly is definitely growing and of course Patrick and I can tell.

I went to the doctor again yesterday and everything "looks great" according my doc. Blood pressure was 110/65. I won't tell my weight, but I hadn't gained a lb since the last 2 week visit. McCay's heart rate was 160 (I had just had a little of a smoothy). And I was still measuring just a little early (31 cm/weeks). I feel so blessed to be having such a smooth pregnancy so far. Don't get me wrong, I still have to deal with some of the not so fun preggo stuff (swelling, tiredness, achy back, etc), but no major problems. I am getting more and more anxious and excited to meet this little guy!

Tub and Pepper went to the doctor yesterday too. Dr. Riley said they both were great patients and were in good health.
