Mac goes to FL

My cousin Jay got married this weekend at Eden Oaks Park. Liz, Mac, and me drove down to Dothan then FL to go to the wedding. Sunday before the wedding we gathered at Aunt Nancy's house to eat chili and let Mac meet everyone on my mom's side of the family. It was SO good to see everyone. All of my mom's side lives in FL so we don't get to see them much. The most wonderful thing was that Mac got to meet Granny. He is her 11th great grandchild!

Church Nursery

Dr. Israel said that after 2 months, Mac could go to the church nursery so today he went for the first time! It was a surprisingly smooth process and he did great! They gave us a  number for him. If the number comes on one of the little red screens in the sanctuary, then that means you have to go get them b/c they're having trouble in there. One eye was on the preacher this morning and one was on the screen! Luckily Mac behaved. When we came back to get him, he was laying in his crib looking up at the mobile above just kicking his legs and flailing his little arms. He was having a good time, and we were so thankful. I know he was in good hands.

After church we got to visit with Beth and her parents as they came through town (from Huntsville on the way to Montgomery then Dothan). It was great to see the Jacobs (long time childhood friends). Thank you for the wonderful gifts!

Now we're just enjoying a relaxing Sunday afternoon, so nice. Mac is chilling in his swing while Patrick and I relax on the couches. Well, now he's squirming a bit. Enjoy the pictures...

First day back

I was a little nervous to return to work after being away for over 2 months, but everyone made me feel so welcome and appreciated. It was great to get hugs from good friends. I am almost caught up on all the new computer changes, and I fell right back into the swing of taking care of post op. patients. Shannon reported that her and Mac had a good day together which put my mind at ease. I got off pretty early (around 4), grabbed a few things at Walmart and headed home to squeeze Mac. I eased myself back into the work world with just working one day this week, but I'll pick up with 3 days for most of the following weeks. My leg hurts just a little and is a little stiff, but I think that will get better with time.

I'm going to my last PT session today and Lisa is keeping Mac. I'm going to visit Melanie and baby Grayson tomorrow afternoon then Krystal, Benji, Mac, and I will go to the Spain Park football game tomorrow night. They are coming up from Dothan to visit us. Saturday the boys are going to the Auburn game while Krystal and I hang out with Mac at home. I'm sure it will be a great weekend; I just hope it goes by slowly :).

Blogs aren't as fun without pictures so here's one I took of my little guy about an hour ago:

2 month check up

2 week check up
2 month check up
Yeah I just got 4 shots in my leg, so what?!
Mac has changed A LOT since his last visit to see Dr. Israel. He has gained 3 lbs and grown 3 inches! He now weighs 12lbs 11oz and is 24 inches long. He's now cooing, grinning, and batting at objects in front of him. He's eating 5oz every 3-4 hours, but the doctor said we could bump the amount up to 6oz if he wants. I think he will be happy about that!

I return to work tomorrow. I had to stop working at the end of July because physically I just couldn't handle it (leg pain, swelling, etc). Since then I have had a 9lb baby, an appendectomy, and have been going to physical therapy for about 1.5 months. The Lord is so good. I have regained a lot of strength back in my leg, am walking normally, and have such a beautiful healthy baby boy. Going back to work will be physically, mentally, and emotionally tough, but I know I can do it! I'm looking forward to seeing friends and being a nurse again. I will definitely have more ability to be empathetic for my patients now that I've been through 2 surgeries and recoveries. I'm looking forward to putting that experience into play at Princeton.

Baby Jag

Mac made his debut at Spain Park tonight at the baseball team tailgate before the big game against Hoover. He got to meet a lot of our SP friends and some of Patrick's students. I think he was a big hit. Go Jags!

Trip to Dothan

Mac and I have been in Dothan for the past few days. He did wonderfully on the ride there and back (thank you Jesus). We spent some fun time with Mom and Dad. I also took him by to see our good friends the Halls. I got to hang out with Krystal at Dakota for a bit. Although the Dakota that us Dothanians have grown to love has closed, we visited the one near Flowers Hospital and it still felt like old times! Then last night I fell back into "old times" again when I opened up a shoe box full of old notes and cards from high school. That was entertaining! I could have stayed up all night reading those. Mac and I will be back on the road again Oct. 19th for my cousin Jay's wedding. Although it will be a longer drive down to the beach, now I know we'll be OK, and hopefully his sweet Aunt Liz will be with us.
